I am trying to install NetWare 5, either by bootable CD or from DOS partition. Each time at the beginning of the install after select a storage device and a network board, it just hangs there. The only way to get it going, after hours and hours of replacing parts and drivers, is to set the Platform Support Module to “(optional)”.

PSM provides increased performance for multi-processor computers and some specific hardware configurations. The installation program auto detected a value for Platform Support Modules (PSM). I don’t know why this PSM doesn’t work on my computer while the installation program can detect it. It just causes the installation hangs and wastes my time looking for the solution.

Anyway if you meet the same problem, don’t waste your time. Try disabling the “Platform Support Modules” and it will make everything all right.
